Field note book of William Luce, member of Capt. J. W. Abert's party of topographical engineers. The notebook contains a pass from Gen. Banks dated Oct. 1861. Luce, his teamster, and outfit were captured, in the Lower Shenandoah Valley in Spring of 1862, by Ashby's cavalry. The notebook and his instruments were turned over to Jed. Hotchkiss, Lt., Topographical Engineers, A.V.D., by Col. Ashby. |
